If elected, a Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $250,000 to upgrade lighting at Lancefield Football Netball Club.
The 110 lux lighting upgrade will enable playing and training times to be significantly extended on the Lancefield Football Oval, in order to support both the Senior and Junior teams as well as the club’s planned introduction of a women’s football team and Under 19’s team in 2019.
Only the Liberal Nationals will support local sports clubs instead of spending $225 million on Etihad Stadium like the Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Lancefield Football Netball Club has missed out on other funding opportunities in the past due to not being a Council-run facility.
“Amanda Millar has been doing extensive work across the Macedon Ranges to support the growth of local grassroots clubs and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“The Liberal Nationals will always put grass roots sport first, unlike the Labor Party which has spent two thirds of its sport budget on the AFL and elite sport.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Macedon, Amanda Millar:
“Lancefield Football Netball Club is at the heart of the Lancefield community.
“The club has been disappointed in recent years at missing out on funding which has gone to other towns.
“These upgrades will provide the club with the opportunity to move to the next level – most especially by opening the door to introducing a women’s football team in 2019.”
